For DVAM 2025, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project is proud to introduce the theme With Survivors, Always. This theme allows us to explore what it means to be in partnership with survivors toward safety, support, and solidarity.
"Healing Through...“ is a four-week, trauma-informed support group designed for Black women who are survivors of domestic violence to explore nontraditional healing practices that are rooted in cultural and ancestral practices.
Learn how to recognize patterns of emotional manipulation, learn how emotional abuse impacts your sense of self and self-worth, and connect with others who truly get it.
Hope In Her (HIH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating health inequities and enhancing the healing justice of Black girls and women who have been exposed to interpersonal violence.
Our mission is to center the healing of Black women and girls who've been exposed to interpersonal violence, adultification, and systemic trauma.
We envision a world where health disparities no longer exist, and the well-being of black girls and women is paramount. We aspire to create a society where family violence is eradicated and the adultification of black girls is challenged and dismantled. Our vision is one of hope, healing, and equality, where every black girl and woman can live a life free from violence and discrimination, with the support, resources, and opportunities they deserve.
We strive for collective liberation by centering equity in every facet of our work- redistributing power, challenging oppression, and ensuring Black women and girls are seen, heard, and protected.
We lead with love and awareness of the layered identities our communities hold. We hold space for the fullness of Blackness, queerness, disability, spirituality, and every intersection in between.
Our work is guided by compassion, safety, and cultural humility. We honor the impact of generational, systemic, and interpersonal trauma, and prioritize care that heals rather than harms. Above all, we value live experiences.
We do what we can to remove barriers to healing- economic, linguistic, physical, and emotional because care is a right, not a privilege. We design with everyone in mind, not as an afterthought.
From therapy to storytelling to policy- our work aims to amplify the voices, choices, and power of Black women and girls. We believe healing is a radical, community-rooted act that restores dignity and affirms our right to joy: "I cannot survive if we don't survive."
"Like a lotus, beauty can grow in darkness and so can we if we look for our light."
